The United Grand Lodge of England
The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) is the home of Freemasonry. It governs and administers Freemasonry in England, Wales, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, and several Districts overseas — including the District Grand Lodge of Madras, under which Lodge St. John's No. 434 EC works.
Freemasons' Hall, the UGLE headquarters, has been used for Masonic meetings since 1775. The present building — the third on the site — was constructed between 1927 and 1933 as a memorial to those who died in the First World War, and was long known as the Masonic Peace Memorial.
